Hello! I am thrilled to be teaching an amazing group of fifth graders here at Trent Park Elementary. I am so blessed to be working with students this year who have a true love for learning. This is my sixth year of teaching and I am savoring every moment of fun!
I am fortunate to be a North Carolina Teaching Fellow who attended the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. I graduated in May of 2005 with my undergraduate degree and graduated in December of 2006 with my Masters of Elementary Education. During my courses at UNCW, I learned the importance of approaching instructon from various perspectives as no two children have the exact same prior experiences to faciliate their learning and no two students prefer for me to present lessons identically.
My students will not always come home with the same type of assignments or the same requests for homework. However, please know that students will be expected to complete homework every night. If your child is telling you a different story, then please contact me to discuss homework expectations.
I am delighted to be working with two other wonderful fifth grade teachers this year. Mrs. Carman, Mrs. White, and I are working hard to create some wonderful learning opportunities for all of us!
Since we'll be taking a science EOG in May in addition to the reading and math EOG, we also get to work three times a week with Mrs. Alligood! Science is one of my favorite subjects; we will have some busy hands in the science lab and in our classroom.
We'll be working with cooperative groups in all subjects and you'll be learning most concepts through problem-based and project-based learning! It's going to be a busy year!
